Role Reversal

If the Shoe Was on the Other Foot

In an upside-down world, and alternate universe where Trump won the 2020 election, the events below are pulled from real-world American political news involving Biden and the Democratic Party presented as if Trump and the Republican Party were in control instead. How much would be tolerated and accepted by the American voter? Is the Democratic Party and its leadership really the 'Party of the People' as they promote themselves to be? Would Main Stream Media be so kind to Trump in a second term as they are to Biden? You be the judge...

NOTE: Some real-world quotes have been changed to better reflect a Right-centric approach to the text to make direct comparisons more accurate.
HEADLINE: Vice President Mike Pence questions the 'integrity' of the Supreme Court after the repeal of the 2nd Amendment in May 2022 by the Liberal-leaning SCOTUS. (September 2022)
True to his dictatorial form, President Trump delivers a Labor Day 2022 speech in front of an ominous backdrop complete with the American flag clad in red and a Marine Corps honor guard present. Critics cry foul as this is a politicization of the American military - something Trump said he would never do while on the campaign trail. (September 2022).
"Extremist Democrats do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election. And they're working right now, as I speak, in state after state to give power to decide elections to America to partisans and croniues, empowering electrion deniers to undermine democracy itself. Democrat forces are determined to take this country backwards." (This devisive and polarizing speech by Trump, essentially attacking anyone who voted against him in 2020, presented in a Labor Day speech to Americans in September 2022).
"For those brave Left-wing Americans who say it's all about keeping America independent and safe, you want to fight against the country, you need an F-15. You need something more than a protest and rioting in major cities." (August 2022, Trump openly mocking the Left's approach to change during a speech).
In an unprecedented move, Trump's Justice Department and the FBI have raided the home of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton under the claim that she was in possession of federal documents illegally retained from Washington during her time in federal service. The move is seen as a political one by the Left as a way to ensure Clinton cannot run again for President in 2024. (August 2022).
Passed along party lines in the Senate, the $740 billion so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" is set into law by the Republicans and President Trump. Democrats fear the massive spending package will only increase already high inflation for average Americans while Republicans claim there will be millions of dollars in offsets and savings from the ensuing federal spending and the various programs affected. (August 2022)
Bypassing formal avenues, President Trump has, by way of Executive Order, forgiven billions in debt for only certain Americans - this just head of the 2022 mid-term elections. Trump and Republicans insist this is all about helping Americans, stimulating the economy, and not 'buying votes' ahead of the pivotal elections. (August 2022).
Republican leadership is accused of war-mongering as they visit - under the cover of night - the island nation of Taiwan, drawing the ire of China in the process. (August 2022).
"Inflation in July 2022 was zero percent" - Trump on the state of the economy following July's economic report (July 2022).
The Trump administration considers establishing a 'Ministry of Truth' ahead of the 2022 mid-term elections. The Left naturally cries foul as it gives government the too much oversight in deciphering what news is considered 'fake' and 'misleading' for Americans. The Right sees it more as a protection against such things to keep the upcoming election fair and balanced while informing voters. (May 2022).
The Left-leaning SCOTUS has repealed the 2nd Amendment, a founding principle of the United States of America, forcing states to independently draw up laws that restrict or grant access to firearms for Americans. (May 2022).
"But no amendment - no amendment to the Constitution is absolute." - Delivered in April 2022 by President Trump in a Rose Garden speech. Americans seem to be okay with their President saying things like this.
In a major setback for President Trump, the Left-leaning SCOTUS has struck down his Executive Order mandating the vaccination of Americans in businesses employing 500 or more people. The move was seen as an over-reaching, unconstitutional measure for the President from the get-go by Democrats and the Left while being openinly supported by the Republicans and the Right.
Under Trump's direct order, the evacuation of Afghanistan has taken place. In the chaotic withdrawal, 13 U.S. Marines and dozens of Afghans were killed in a blast at Kabul airport, this after Trump claimed the evacuaton was being handled in a "...secure and orderly way" and scenes of the Vietnam War's Saigon would not be repeated on rooftops. Nevertheless, the Right rejoices as Trump has kep a campaign promise to end the American precense in Afghanistan. in the process, billions of dollars in American equipment have been passed on to the conquering Taliban forces who openly parade their new wares in front of the cameras and on social media.
Republicans have set up a 'bi-partisan' committee, that includes just two Democrats, to weed out those responsible for storming the Capital buiding on January 6th, 2021. The results of the committee will be aired nationally on televsion and social media in prime time just ahead of the Midterm elections. Republicans and the Right claim this is in no way a modern-day witch hunt intended to damage the image of Biden and his supporters but more about protecting American rule-of-law, Democracy, and freedom.
"Wear the Damn Mask" - In his true divisive form, Trump berates non-compliant Americans during a speech demanding they do their part to thwart the spread of COVID-19.
"If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Biden, then you're black" - Delivered by Trump in May of 2020 during a radio interview prior to the 2020 election. Despite backlash from the Left, Trump stands by his statement and does not consider himself a racist.
"You ever been to a caucus?...No you haven't. You're a lying dog-faced pony soldier." - May 2020, said by Trump to a young female voter at a rally.
"Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids" - August 2019, Trump, while on the campaign trail.
"In Florida, the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking" - Trump, 2006, still under the belief that he is not a racist by nature.
